3.1 Beta 4 This Week?

Last week I said that I believe if we didn't see Beta 4 [last week], then we will see GM a week or two later.

I personally don't think apples is in any kind of rush to release 3.1.. 3.0 is working great! Only feature we are waiting for is MMS...
I also will not be updating to 3.1.. My phone is working fine on 3.0.. I have it working perfectly.. Jailbroken.. All my apps and settings are just fine.. If MMS does come out on 3.1 imA just download the carrier file and apply it

There's no way they will release the GM to devs and have it leaked (GMs usually do not expire and require no verification) before it's officially announced on the 7th of September.
The 3rd gen touch will be announched on the 7th and at the same time they will mention the 3.1 OS which comes loaded on it. GMs will be released to devs immediately & to the public a few days later.
We'll see another beta this week I believe.

3.1 has so far been a step back in terms of memory/battery usage. I hoping this is sorted out by GM release.
They don't really HAVE to wait for the september event to announce 3.1 I'm pretty sure they'll release it this week or next. Don't quote me though.
Heck who knows. lol. Apple confuses me. Ppl are stuck on this, "it'll be out in Sept stuff, b/c of the 3rd Gen touch." oh plz. By releasing it now, won't affect the 3rd Gen Touch sales. We, the iPhone consumers, need it more than them as of now anyway. the Wifi problem is annoying.
The only person who knows for sure is the AT&T Manager who eats pizza. And he isn't telling. Ok, he might show you an official letter, but you can't keep it.

Wasn't OS 3.0 the first time Apple ever released a "GM" for an iPhone OS update? Are you all just saying that you think the next beta will be the same version number as the final release or what because for some reason all of a sudden everyone is assuming that Apple will release a GM version of every minor point update like they did with 3.0. Am I right about this or did people always assume there would be some kind of GM? I feel like it's only after 3.0 came out that everyone got spoiled and thinks that a GM will be the norm from now on.
Does it really matter what Apple calls it?

3.0 DOES NOT work great! It SUCKS on the 3G! There are so many bugs that it really isnt funny...
Yeah I know. I'm not trying to be bitter or anything like that, I'm just wondering if my observation is correct and that the term GM really entered the Apple vocabulary (and consequently the MacRumors collective conscious) at version 3.0. I don't really remember anyone around here using it before that.
Actually, Apple started using the term 'Gold Master' as they launched Mac OS X back in 2001.

Since then they have always used 'Gold Master' or 'GM' for short to designate a final build from others.

been checking dev web site all day and still beta 3 although on a strange note this morning i heard my phones txt message sound and when i went to go look at it i got a mms i am currently running 3.1 beta 3 i couldnt believe it so i checked and i can receive and send mms now well see how long this lasts

Seriously, what will be included in 3.1 anyway? Nothing significant as far as I can tell, except if AT&T happens to update their carrier file for MMS at the same time.

3.1 has come w/ an updated carrier file for MMS since beta 2. Other then that its just minor changes.
