I know that early reports pointed to 3.1 breaking the tethering hack through ipcc files. Has this been confirmed with todays release yet? If so, is there a workaround?

Well I have another issue now too. My GFs iPhone had tethering enabled prior to the 3.1 update. After the update she can't tether but she also can't turn on visual voicemail.

In 3.0.1 you could enter acds.voicemail into the APN field in network settings to get it back.... but those fields are no more in 3.1.

Anyone have a fix? Getting voicemail back is much needed.

I'm not talking about a jailbroken iphone,
just doing the Benm tether hack with a non-jailbroken iPhone......?

Does that still work ?

Updating to 3.1 will kill all hacks, but has anyone tried doing the Benm hack after the update?

iPhone 3.1

I did the deed without thinking and upgraded to 3.1 (iTunes 9). Tethering does not work and I tried reinstalling the benm profile and no avail. I tried downgrading to 3.0 (there's forums on that) was unsuccessful at first and will try it again later tonight when I'm not in the middle of a business day needing my phone (that was stupid of me to erase it and try to restore when I'm expecting important calls). I would advise you to not upgrade. Not to mention I didn't notice any difference off the bat. Good ol' Apple is releasing upgrades to their iTunes, iPhone, and OS without much noticeable improvement...

Same boat. Was a little to hasty in upgrading...hey, AT&T *is* coming out with their tethering option though!! probably Sept 25th also! Gotta love options!!!!

Yeah, but if it's anything like O2s offer your bill is going to increase by 50%. For the same money I can get mobile broadband with a free laptop chucked in.

Sick that you have to pay extra to transfer data you're already paying for from your phone to your computer through a cable you own!

Isn't AT&T grand? Such horseshyte.
Cannot wait till the day I can ditch them:)

benM.at does not allow for visual vm with the upgrade to 3.1
I had to delete it.:-(

You have to go into settings and remove the BenM profile to get your visual voicemail back.

It took me hours to figure this out.

Please help

After upgrading to 3.0.1 I still have tethering but my visual voicemail no longer works. Under network setting the VVM has disappeared. I don't understand how to remove this BenM profile. Can somebody please explain? I've trained resetting Network settings, still no VVM. I tried changing my password, but the iphone didn't recognize it. Help!!

iPhone OS 3.1 Kills tethering + tethering hacks for AT&T customers

how many freaking threads do we need on the same subject
moderators can we please get a sticky thread ?

I have had it with apple

I live in Austria, where my provider allowed tethering without extra fees, and thx to f**ing apple I cannot use the service anymore?? I cannot BELIEVE it!!! If this functionality is not back soon I will never buy anything from apple again. Apple has taken the final shift from a user-friendly to a user-dominating company.

Go to settings > down the bottom to Profile > Remove.

I'll ditto the request for the mods to start a sticky thread on the 3GS and 3.1 tethering, downgrading and jailbreaking.
