3 cues/clues on iOS 9...

Hello, I did searching before posting but the answers I found here and there on the Web are very general in nature. So I turn to you for some cues or clues. iOS 9.1 runs on my Air 2. First iPad and first days with iOS. Mail: seems that my Imap account cannot do push notifications. Gmail and iCloud accounts do it. Push notifications work with the same Imap account on my iMac/10.10.5. App switcher: every app that I opened show in the app switcher even after a restart next day. Since I've been using an Android tablet before iPad, I'm surprised at this. Android closes apps un memory at shut off. Then I wonder why the News app from Apple is not installed. I'm a big user of news apps like Flipboard, News 360 and likes. I read everywhere, it's a feature of iOS 9. Can I download it? I don't see it in the AppStore. Newbie questions for sure but I've given myself one month to fully understand iOS 9. Not all by myself of course.

Gmail does not support push on iOS. Check your mail fetch settings in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data. This will tell the device how often to check for new mail. Also, make sure notifications are turned on for that account in Settings > Notifications > Mail.

This is normal. The apps move into a suspended state but still show in the App Switcher.

The News app is not in the App Store and is only available in the US, UK and Australia. Make sure your region is set to one of those regions.

Hello allo bcave098, thanks merci for the answers. I make good of it. Got it for the app switcher. As for Mail, my ISP's (Videotron) iMap account is stuck in "récupération" as shows the picture. Only iCloud manages Push as I can see. Not a big thing but I like push notifications. I make good use of them. BTW sorry for the wrong info about Gmail. While at it, I wanna use Touch ID but I read on forums and Apple sites, it's not very reliable with 9.1. If I use it and it goes awry will I be able to "turn it off"?

Push, in the way iCloud uses it, depends on the server for mail. On iOS it's usually iCloud and Exchange. Push notifications in the way that you would get it immediately when you get the email is not possible if the server doesn't support Push. However, you can have it fetch emails (or "récupération") and give you notifications when it does so (in this case, every 30 minutes), just make sure notifications are enabled on that account in Settings > Notifications > Mail.

You can turn off Touch ID at any time, as long as you remember the passcode.

While at it, I wanna use Touch ID but I read on forums and Apple sites, it's not very reliable with 9.1. If I use it and it goes awry will I be able to "turn it off"?

You'll be fine with TouchID. All the reports I've seen surrounding TouchID are that it's slower for some people. I've yet to see a complaint that claims that it's broken altogether (not that I pay the closest attention to such things). If you don't like it, you can absolutely turn it off.
