Apple stopped supporting MacOS 10.9 (Mavericks) at the end of 2019 which means it is no longer getting security updates. Can your Mac support a newer version of MacOS? If you don't know, you can find your Mac here and see the newest compatible version. MacOS Mojave is the oldest version currently supported, but that is expected to end later this year.

It sounds like your problem is probably that you cannot use a current web browser on your old operating system, however it may also be related to the issue discussed in this thread:

The larger issue is that you're using an operating system that is no longer supported by Apple, which might pose security risks. I ran into the same issue with my 2013 MacBook Air a few years ago that was still running Mountain Lion. The current version of Safari could no longer be installed, so I switched to Chrome which was still supporting my old operating system. But within another year or so, Google also dropped support for the old operating system.

This meant I could no longer access some websites I needed, similar to what you describe. I finally upgraded to a newer version of MacOS that would let me use current browsers. But you can continue trying to find other browsers that will work, Firefox might be one of them, I don't know.

See the other thread I linked to. It was suggested that the issue with encryption certificates affects anyone running Sierra or earlier (which includes you). I don't think there's anything you can do about that, although the owners of the affected websites should be able to fix it if they want to.

As far as "what to do", you can update to a newer version of MacOS that supports current browsers. But that could be an issue in some cases, depending on the other software you use. Old 32-bit apps will no longer run under Catalina or newer versions of MacOS. For that reason, some people have stayed with Mojave although Apple will soon stop supporting it.

A related issue: even though Apple has not officially announced the end of support of Mojave, Mojave has been left out of the last couple of rounds of macOS and Safari updates. It's not clear if this means Apple has internally ended Mojave support already or that Mojave is immune to recent security threats. I bet it's the former.

Hi thanks for ur reply,
It’s OS X, 10.9.5
So, I think it would be best for jazz333 to upgrade from Mavericks to Big Sur if possible. If that isn't possible, Mojave is a Plan B with a limited lifespan.

For anybody interested, this is an interesting analysis of Apple's history of supporting its OS's:

Yes, there is a root certificate that has expired on 9/30. Since you are using an unsupported OS, that OS will not receive any updates and will not receive an updated set of root certificates.

You can either:
Update your machine to a supported OS
Install the updated certificates yourself
