3-finger swipe gesture fails

Hi everyone,

My trackpad works weirdly under macOS 12.1 beta 2. When swiping with 3 fingers, sometimes it fails to switch between screens (2 times out of 5). Has anyone experienced such a problem?

Edit: it is actually beta 3, not beta 2.

I have an issue that started when I installed beta 2 where my trackpad no longer likes it when I 3-finger swipe to the right. Most of the time it bounces back to the left.

I have exactly the same issue! And it is still not fixed in beta 3.

Update: the issue is still there in macOS 12.1 beta 4. I think I will report this to Apple.

Yes, report it to Apple. I am having this issue as well so I downgraded to macOS 12.1 Beta 1 which has no issues for me.

Clearly this is a common issue. They told me that there are more than 10 similar reports and they have identified the problem and will fix it in a future update.

I finally upgraded from macOS 12.1 beta 1 after having downgraded previously due to this gesture problem with beta 2/3. Now, I am no longer having this issue on the RC.

Apple sent me an email to confirm that they fixed the bug in 21C51 building. That is macOS 12.1 RC.

The version that has shipped with MBP 14" experiences this problem, only restart works for me. Good to hear the fix is coming soon.

I seem to get this now and again, where 3/4 finger swipes to move between desktops / apps stops working. It happened on both the main trackpad, or if I use my Magic Trackpad. Even if I go into trackpad settings to swap, change and reset things, the only way around is a reboot. After that, it's fine for a good few days (in my experience). Glad it's not just me though.

If you have trackpad gesture issues, don't restart! Use this Terminal command: killall Dock

That will restart the Dock and for whatever reason makes the trackpad gestures start working again too. Only takes 3 seconds! I was going to pull my hair out until I found this workaround!

Worked for me, thank you! Huge time saver.

Was having trouble with swipes and hot corners not working. Completely disrupted my workflow not being able to switch between apps/desktops.
