3 hours later .... iPhone STILL resetting??

iPhone 4S which was on iOS 7 (i forget the exact version) & was jailbroken.

Turned off Find My iPhone, signed out of my account & then went to erase all content & settings in preparation for giving the phone to my mum.

3 hours later & that circle thing on the centre of the screen which is like a loading indicator - it's still there & still 'rotating'.

This must've surely timed out & it hasn't worked properly? How long do these things take?

And if it has timed out then how do i get to any other screen now?

It's hilarious that I found your post as a headline in the news app. I read the article expecting, well, an article. So, I decided to look your question up on the forums and see if anyone has replied yet.

Firstly, this is why you don't jailbreak your iPhone. You weaken the operating system and make yourself vulnerable to bugs and malicious software. Plus, I've occasionally seen iPhones bricked due to trying to undo a jailbreak, in which case you're "s" outta luck. But that's rare.

The fix: get out your computer and make sure iTunes is up to date. Plug in your iPhone and hold down both power button and home button to force it off. Then KEEP HOLDING. As soon as the screen blinks out, count slowly to 8, then only release the power button and keep holding the home button. After about 10 more seconds, you'll see iTunes announce its found an iPhone in recovery mode. The screen on your iPhone should be blank. This is called a DFU recovery. In iTunes, restore the iPhone. It'll download the most current version of iOS for your iPhone model and... Voila! You're fixed. As long as it doesn't brick it because you jail broke it. Which probably won't happen, but I have seen happen before.

Forgive my "jailbreak shaming," I used to work at the Genius Bar and I've seen hundreds of circumstances like yours.

You cannot do an erase all on a jb device. It will get stuck like this and never finish.
Just plug it itunes and hit restore. That's your only option.
