AAPL last split in 2005, but has only split 3 times in its lifespan...i.e., an AAPL split is very unusual.
I don't think there is a pressing reason for AAPL to split these days. Especially with Google at the price level it is....meaning, why would AAPL split if GOOG is priced higher with no talk of a split. (Essentially the main reason to split is to make the shares more affordable.) Also, with Google priced higher, it would seem that it might be a goal in some sort of way, to beat that price...as if to show that AAPL is a better stock. In the competitive mindset of Steve Jobs and Apple, I doubt they would split while Google's share price is higher.
There was a rumor last month of a 4-to-1 split, but no other info has come out that I can find FWIW.
Plus, a split really does nothing to share prices except to cut them exactly in half as the number of individual shares doubles. There is rarely no major momentum like you are thinking Julien.
