I was recently given a new 30 v ipod, BUT...
I have a 60, and only have about 4 free on it. B
the 30 is still tightly shrink wrapped, and I really want a 60, but I it is personalized. I don't know what is engraved on it, and it was a gift. I'm always taking mre pics, so I would pretty much have no room on it to begin with. I also like to have things like photoshop files and the like which can be quite large...

any advice on what I can do?
I have a brand new iPod in literally perfect condition, and the money to upgrade, but one major hurdle–the engraving.

As much as you don't want to do it, your best bet is to keep the 60GB you have and also keep the 30GB. Put only some stuff on your 30GB, including videos. If you need EVERYTHING, bring the old one.

Unfortunately, you can't return the engraved iPod and selling it would be a major profit loss. You could try, depending on what's engraved...

You mine as well open it either way, because you can't really do anything with it in the package. If someone's going to buy it, they're going to want to know what's on it.

Stuck in the middle with you
I really can't see why you'd need to have All of your photoshop files full size all the time. If you do, buy a 2.5" external hard drive. you can get a 40GB-60GB drive for about $100 (the price difference between 30 and 60GB ipod) and it's nice and small to carry around.

I am a photographer and am on my school's yearbook staff, so having everything with me is a major plus when I want to print/work on a file or use my shots for a page in yearbook. Having all that im my pocket is a very good thing. Having several ipods or an ipod and an external HD almost eliminate the convienence.

Has anybody ever tried sending it to apple for a new backplate? It sounds complicated, but if it is an option, i'd love to do it.

Also, what about taking it in to any store that sells ipods

IDK

I guess I'm desperate bc i love the video ipods, but I KNOW that i'll run out of space soon (just with photos and music), and so it become a bit pointless to even have the new one.

Honestly, I'm almost positive that if you took it to Target and told them it was a gift they'd give you store credit since it's shrink wrapped. I'm not exactly encouraging this though.

I'm pretty sure that is says

marry christmas Billy
we love you
mom and dad

or something very similar to that
at least, that's what came on the card with it

on the target thing... I don't hate them enough, esp. because the people that work there would have to deal with ti being engraved, and it might even get re-sold to someone else. Though Wal-Mart might just be evil enough... ;)
