I have a macbook pro 2015 (bought new from best buy 2017) and had this problem from the moment I removed it from the box. When I bought it, it had the old operating system, I think it was OS X Yosemite. They just came out with el Capitan, so before I cluttered up the computer I downloaded Capitan. It took over 35 hours on a brand new fresh never used pro! Now I am in the process of upgrading to High Serria, and at 35 hours and it's still not loaded! My home mac computer is 10 years old and only took 2 hours to install. Is this something wrong with the iMac pro laptop? All I did in all cases was go to the apple icon, clicked updates and the clicked download for the new version. I have downloaded other programs on my laptop, and never had this problem, every other download worked fine, just the apple upgrades.

If your internet connection is adequate, and your network (either wired or wireless) is adequate, it shouldn’t take that long.

Also, your computer isn’t an iMac Pro. It may very well not matter, but it could possibly be helpful to know what computer you are actually using.

Best of luck!

Not that any of this really matters, as it relates to the issue that you are having, but...

There was no "iMac Pro" in 2015. OS X Yosemite came pre-installed on the 2015 (later released Macs came with El Capitan). Lion (OS X 10.7, released in 2011) would never work on any hardware released in 2015. And I have no idea what an "iMac Pro laptop" is.

There have been intermittent reports of long download times from the MAS over the years, but I've never seen anything like 35 hours to download a 5GB file.

There is a direct link to the file from Apple that does not require that you go through the MAS:

[doublepost=1534936556][/doublepost]Thanks for your reply, I will try the link, right now I am @ 40 hours and still loading. What keeps happening is the download keeps freezing.

You didn't mention if you are using wired or wireless. Also, if you go to speedtest.net and do a quick test, what are the numbers you are receiving from the test.

I am using wireless, my iPad has no problems with upgrades using this connection with upgrades. I did find after watching what was going on, for some reason the download keeps freezing up, could be 10 minutes, could be two hours. Right now I am on my 5th day and third download attempt. I totally cleaned off any remnants of past download attempts. Just wish it would stop freezing, I guess if this does not work I will have to buy a cable so I can connect with my home computer and do it that way. When I downloaded High Sierra onto my 10 year old Mac, it was done in about 2 hours. Just about ready to take it to the mac store and see what the problem is!

Did you try restarting your router? Despite the fact that other devices seem to download OK, restarting your router might help.

Did you go to the website I suggested just to see the actual numbers?

What does "low side" mean?
How do those "low side" numbers compare to the same test on your iPad?
What happens when you run the same speedtest immediately after restarting your wifi router (and probably a good idea to also restart your "low side" Mac, too!) Make sure that that big download is not running at the same time, so you get an actual test of your connection, running only the speedtest.
