32-Bit Apps with El Cap

Apple is going to drop support for 32-bit apps (like Office 2011 for Mac) in a future version of High Sierra (according to reports). As I understand the things I've read, El Cap (and presumably Sierra) will continue to allow 32-bit apps to run - do you all agree with this?

Yes, that is correct. Older versions of macOS/OS X will not be updated to drop support for 32-bit applications, it is only the new versions of macOS moving forward that will no longer support 32-bit.

32-bit apps continue to run fine in El Cap, Low Sierra, and High Sierra.
They will run (with some reduced functionality) in the upcoming 10.14 (2018).
It is only with 10.15 (2019) that support will be dropped.

Aside:
OS 10.15 may be the first iteration of the upcoming "combined" Mac OS/iOS.
Purely my own speculation.

So basically avoid the buggy as hell High Sierra and Sierra? Sounds good!!

I rolled my rMBP up to HS around the beginning of the year, but only went as far as El Cap with my Mini. Both had been on Yosemite. To be honest, I have had zero problems with HS on the early 2015 rMBP. Intellectually, I have concerns about the file system changes, but nothing I use has had any problems.

I have an uninstalled standalone license for Office 2016. I guess I'm going to find out how much I really hate the UI.
