Thanks for the tip, very nice. Only question I have, it says Data remaining: Unlimited then says Messages or Messaging and says 158. I assume that means I've used 158 messages not that I have 158 remaining, but does anyone know for sure?

No, it means remaining. Mine says 200 right now.
You can test by sending a message, then requesting a second update.
 
So it's safe to assume then that the numbers we get back in a text are real-time numbers and not updated nightly?
 
It's important to note that the usage estimate is NOT real-time. In some cases it can be, but it's not uncommon for the update to take 1 or 2 days to update usage estimates.
 
How could this not work? It has worked since day 1.

You call that number, and AT&T sends you a text message.

If you just activated your phone, you have to wait until the start of your next billing cycle for it to work [for them to send you text messages that actually tell you your data usage]
