So 10.3 confirmed that 32bit apps won't work in iOS 11 this fall.
The warning message changed from "will slow down" to "will not work".

I'm scared.
I have a lot of old school apps and classics games I don't wanna just let go.
Some of them are pure nostalgia from day-one of the (then 500-apps) App Store.

I thought iCloud backup restores would only redownload apps still available on the store but I was happy to find out that's not the case. But now I learn that iOS11 will kill all my classic apps and my games (together with hard earned savedata)...

Well, the easy thing to do would be buying a new iDevice that you will use daily and keep that one laying around to play your games and stuff on...

Try contacting to the devs, might surprise you what they do if they see people still have interest in their old apps. Or don't update your iPhone....

Personally I'm excited! 50% of the apps I use for work (and throughly hate) are still 32 bit and I'm looking forward for a valid excuse of not using them anymore.

The point of buying 64GB/128GB devices was to have all my stuff one spotlight search away...not in a drawer...
Old school apps like Pastebot and Dungeon Raid..
Or the companion app for my 2015 Sony car radio...who knows if it will be updated...

But I get your point..maybe an iPad that won't get iOS11 at all (ipad 4? at least it's got lightning) to be on the extra safe side could become my "retro iOS machine"..

After iOS 10.3.2 beta 1 release, 32 bit devices are left behind already, long before iOS 11...
although pretty much you could just use your devices without hitting update or installing a tvOS profile to prevent update for up to a year.

As far as I understand it's not 100% confirmed that 32bit devices won't get any 10.3.x minor update, there may be temporary issues or something that prevents 10.3.2 beta1 to be released for 32bit devices for the time being..

Anyway that still doesn't mean 32bit APPS won't work...Apple will give a big huge "last call" final warning to devs and the 32bit-pocalypse will happen with iOS11..not on a 10.point.point release..

I have a few 32bit apps that I still use (and haven't found a comparable replacement for) that definitely won't get updated to 64bit - they haven't been supported for a few years. I have a feeling it's going to be a difficult choice when it comes to updating my 5S to iOS 11. I reckon I'll leave my iPad Air 2 on iOS 10.3 for as long as possible.
There's a quality newspaper app that was initially free about 4 years ago, but when they changed from free to subscription ($25 per month) I didn't update. That one is going to be very hard to lose.

RIP Flappy Bird :(

The original flappy bird is the only one that is good. The clones suck and don't respond the same way the original does. The developer is never going to update it since he took it off the store.

or, just don't update.. :D

It's a shame Apple can't just have a 32 bit run time that will download for people who want to keep using the old apps.

Often i reckon this is no different ether as the move from PPC to Intel back in the day. We're just now introducing another leap forward.

I wonder if I could possibly sell my iPhone with Flappy Bird...I remember there was a craze when it initially left the store. I wonder if it'll pick up again once iOS 11 kills the compatibility.

The way I see it, if the app developers want to continue making money, they will have to adopt and make 64bit versions of the apps. It might not happen over night for some but, many will make the switch.
