3D Graphics Card update (even for just windows for now)

Hi all,
I have an early 2008 Mac pro with 2- 2.8GHz chips (8 cores) and a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT, I want to store the 8800 and use a new one, I do not want to use a switch box, I use my main monitor and my 3D TV at once sometimes, I would like to use the new 3D program that Nvidia has now to output to my new 3d TV (there is adjustments in the Nvidia that I need to use) so
1. I do not think that my card is supported acording to Nvidia http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dtv-play-requirements.html

2. I have not read ATI coming out with anything like this soon (I think, and could be highly wrong).

3. So I think I need some other Nvidia card, I do not want to spend a lot as these always change so (even if I need to use boot camp, windows XP now)

How do I get it to work in osx 10.6.7 (for now) please?

I'm not an expert on flashing cards (I was thinking about it, but wimped out and bought an Apple card), but I haven't heard much about people flashing NVidia cards. Something about the amount of memory and the size of the firmware....

It should be possible, I just haven't read about it happening.

I'm intrigued by the ebay link you sent. If you decide to try it, make sure to post the results.

However, for the $250 it costs you could buy a 5770 from Apple that you KNOW will work.

Also, and i'm just throwing this out there, Lion is coming out soon. People with advance copies have reported that the new OS will recognize PC-based ATI cards right out of the box. No need to flash or pay the apple tax.

Netkas.org are discussing the Fermi cards in Lion head over there to see the best info about them.

If the 3D isn't that important an issue I would suggest heading down the AMD card route as Apple seem to be more well disposed to that manufacturer.
If you can hold off till the final retail release of Lion we will know better which way to go.

I looked at the requirements you posted. Nvida 3D will not work in OS X and Windows XP.

Last I read at Netkas those cards are just barely working in some cases.

I think the only way you are getting 3D output to your 3D TV is to add one of the supported cards and upgrade to Vista or Windows 7, per the requirements listed on the website. Keep the existing video card for OS X output and use the new video card for Windows output.

You will either need a switch box or connect both video cards to both displays (assuming they both have multiple inputs).
