I really wanna dive into the world of 3d modeling and sculpting, but I honestly have no idea what software is the best to use. I hear about all types of them like Blender, Maya, Mudbox and many others, but I have no idea what there strengths and weaknesses are. Not only that, but I do know 3d stuff requires a lot of hardware resources too and despite my MacBook being a better one (2019-2020 model with a 10th gen i5, 16gb of ram and a terabyte of storage), I still fear it overheating or being worked too much if I use a too intensive program.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Blender is free and has everything you need, including good learning resources. There are some very powerful and cool commercial apps, mainly Houdini (effects and procedural workflow) and ZBrush (the best sculpting app), but seriously no need to look past blender when starting out.
