I am doing my first steps with Blender, but the interface is awful.
Soon doing a community college class on 3D software and will switch to Maya, which I will buy at the student rate.
Blender is nice to do your first steps, but from my experience: when you see you like 3D you should move to one of the industry wide accepted packages like Maya, 3ds max, Lightwave (and there's Houdini everybody warns about).
