Hi everyone,

I need help, I cannot find a software that can run on OS ( Leopard ) and can open 3D drawings, mainly stp and step file.
Could you please introduce me some software, eventually free, which I can use?

Thank you!!

I'd have to suggest Blender it's probably going to be your best bet with free 3d and a good online community for tuts and stuff. I start on 3D Studio Max and have gone across to Maya and Blender, for learning Blender is very good mainly because the online community is very developed.

And to start with I'd suggest checking out this

Thank you very much!!!

I'm gonna study it carefully!!!

Tks!!

I am doing my first steps with Blender, but the interface is awful.

Soon doing a community college class on 3D software and will switch to Maya, which I will buy at the student rate.

Blender is nice to do your first steps, but from my experience: when you see you like 3D you should move to one of the industry wide accepted packages like Maya, 3ds max, Lightwave (and there's Houdini everybody warns about).

Get this Blender book: http://www.amazon.com/Beginning-Ble...OC3I/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1313822739&sr=8-3

This is the eBook version, the paper version is already out of print (after only 8 months).

You can no longer buy Maya at a student rate, but Autodesk does offer a student license which is full access to 25 of their titles for three years, no watermarks or anything.

I too have not been keen on Blender although their interface has improved (on Mac, on Linux it still looks the same, at least when I tried it.).

Also Houdini isn't that bad anymore, its greatly improved. That being said I think its more suited to certain effects vs modeling. Its simulations are very good. They have a free student version as well.
