I upgraded to iOS 14 and a feature that I used all the time is gone!
I would hold down the phone icon and my favorites would pop up to call. No longer.. now I get this edit option 🙄
Is there a work around?
Ultimately seems like what the OP posted isn't so much about 3D Touch itself as it is about the options that appear for the Phone app when 3D Touch (which is still there) or Haptic Touch is used.Just a few years ago 3D Touch was supposed to be the next big feature, and it was the main feature highlighted of the iPhone 6s.
It is amazing how quickly Apple dropped it.
That was never removed from iOS 13 to begin with.On the plus side, you can actually 3D Touch and hold finger, drag, and let go above a selection, and it will work. Unlike iOS13 which killed even that.
But yes, big RIP to 3D Touch, probably my most loved feature.
It is because they have removed the phone app favorites today widget (actually they have removed all first-party today widgets) and has nothing to do with 3D-touch.I upgraded to iOS 14 and a feature that I used all the time is gone!

Actually it has to do with both. I got rid of my 11 and bough an XS Max because I disliked Haptic Touch. I can understand why Apple switched to Haptic Touch because most iPhone users had no idea what it was or how to use it.Ultimately seems like what the OP posted isn't so much about 3D Touch itself as it is about the options that appear for the Phone app when 3D Touch (which is still there) or Haptic Touch is used.
Well, 3D Touch is still there, it's just that what it does in some places has changed (similar to Haptic Touch too).Actually it has to do with both. I got rid of my 11 and bough an XS Max because I disliked Haptic Touch. I can understand why Apple switched to Haptic Touch because most iPhone users had no idea what it was or how to use it.
I didn’t think Apple would abandon support for it 🤷🏻‍♂️
That is the point of my post.Ultimately seems like what the OP posted isn't so much about 3D Touch itself as it is about the options that appear for the Phone app when 3D Touch (which is still there) or Haptic Touch is used.
That was already happening when things were going to Haptic Touch back in iOS 13 if not even earlier days. Unfortunately it seems that 3D Touch didn't quite catch on as well as it could have or should have, but that's a somewhat different discussion. That is the point of my post.
Apple biggest sell from 5 years was quickly abandoned for half baked alternatives that try to simulate the feature.
Yup, I understand. That was already happening when things were going to Haptic Touch back in iOS 13 if not even earlier days.
The part about the options that are available when 3D Touch or Haptic Touch are used on the Phone app that the OP posted about, that's something new in relation to iOS 14 (and isn't all that related to 3D Touch being different given that it's like that with Haptic Touch as well).
I believe in that respect it's been more or less like that in iOS 13 already as well.Yup, I understand.
Sounds like 3D Touch is gone, but kind of still around in iOS 14, at least in spirit.
It was in almost all cases. You couldn't just keep holding finger on the screen, had to lift it up (as per Haptic Touch) to then tap to select something. That was never removed from iOS 13 to begin with.
