I can't get any Apple stores to answer the phone...how has availability been?

I bought the wifi by walking in on launch day at 8pm at a BB.

I was going to return the wifi but ended up keeping for another project but seems like they are going over in Europe for a good price so I can recoup my cost and get a 3G.

I've been on hold with the Ann Arbor Apple store for 20 minutes waiting to find availability.

Anyone had any recent luck picking them up?

I'd probably go 32gb.

I think it's pretty low availability right now, here's an article I saw earlier:

http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2010/05/03/ipad-3g-sold-out-in-49-of-50-stores/

"Munster's team called 50 Apple Stores on Sunday and found that 49 of them had sold out of iPad 3Gs and most had run out of Wi-Fi-only models as well. But it's not clear whether that's because demand was high or supplies were low. Munster believes it was probably a bit of both."

depends on where you live, all the stores around me are sold out
just put the phone down with the volume all the way up and wait, they will answer eventually

I think they're getting tired of picking up the phone and answering the same exact question every 2 minutes :p

Just go to the Store and ask them to notify you of when one comes in. Once they do, you'll have a day to pick it up.

Well I called and finally got ahold of someone on Novi.

Got the standard Apple answer which is exactly what Steve tells them to say or face crucification...they don't know :)

Apple online said 5-7 days....so I just ordered it online a few minutes ago.

If it shows up in 7 days so that should still fetch a reasonable price for my wifi here or oversea's.

I just want to cover my initial costs.

New York City sold out

There isn't an ipad 3G to be had in NYC today. All 4 stores are sold out. I've reserved one and will wait for the e-mail; they thought that would be faster than online.

There isn't 1 ipad in Wisconsin either or at least where i live near Madison, Wisconsin. Our Apple store as well as the bestbuy is sold out.

I just sold my 16Gb wifi ipad for $605 on ebay to a person from France. I just tacked on the the extra $55 and ordered me a 3G today. Mine too said that it'll take 5 days. I should have it between may 11 and 15. I think going this route, I know for sure I'm getting a ipad 3g and don't have to keep calling the Apple store or going to the Apple store to see if they have 3g ipads in.

That was my thought after calling a few places.

I would suspect they will fill online orders first then stock for stores since the online ones are already sold, with pre-buys in store being handled the same as online, reservations second, and shelf stock last.

How much was shipping to France? I suspect mine will sell in Europe too so trying to get a handle on cost.
