I'm in downtown DC, and have no 3G service. By no service, I mean "No Service." Edge is good enough - 3 bars - but nothing on the 3G side. I'm wondering if this is something regional, local, or just me.

Call 611 on your iPhone and talk to customer service if it doesnt improve in the next hour for you. Usually after an hour or two of outages even customer service knows about it.
It's working fine for me. If a reset doesn't work then try calling AT&T, maybe somehow your data plan got messed up.
Called ATT, and they sent me to AppleCare who set me up with another AppleStore appointment. Of course, I may call ATT again - the rep sounded like she would have rather been anywhere else.
Tried the soft reset, tried resetting network settings. I plan to try a restore as new phone tonight.
