so now the big question... will they be taking "reservations" for the in store sales like they did with wifi only, or is it going to be a line up/first come first served? I wonder how large the lines would be if they do the latter...

So does that mean that Best Buy won't start selling them until 5:00 pm too? I Better take a half-day at work if that's the case.

At least we have a date now. I don't know why people are suprisedby the date. Apple did say late April, and they sure did live up to it. Now we can complain how long FedEx/UPS takes to deliever. There is a good chance that we get out 3G before the store can even sell them. So that's a plus.

I know people hate Saturday deliveries. I like them, I can stay home without having to take time off work. Now I'll have to use up a day of vacation to sign for it.

For those who would suggest that I pre-sign for my shipment, I tried that for my iPhone 3Gs. The guy put the sticky note on top of the release form and wrote "I need your signature on the pad." It surprised me because I live in a nice area and I always get all my stuff left by the side door, such as a brand new PS3.

I had to raise hell way past customer service levels to get the iPhone delivered to my house again the same day. I was not about to drive 40 mins to the warehouse.

Maybe you can call in "sick" ;)

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

I'm wondering how early people will start lining up at Best Buy. I'm hoping to get one there to take advantage of their special financing. :)

Best Buy even carrying the 3G? I've yet to read a confirmation saying they will.

Yea, when my WiFi iPad was delivered the UPS driver was a temp, and he laughed and told me that "Haha, I was hoping someone wS home - I am not sure how'd to get off the signature screen on the terminal if nobody is home". Someone would have been calling their supervisor... Lol.

But I live in a very nice suburb too, and we always are in the best delivery timetables that Fedex and UPS offers.

But that may be the reason why that guy left that note...

And this does kind of bum me out. I wished I had it before Spring break was over, and now I am getting it on the day we open our pool, and the day before I take my SAT and prom(both are that Saturday). So I can't stay up to play with it and he next day I will barley have any face time with it :(

Plusni won't be home to sign for it so I have to let them leave it at my door for however long, and then hope that it doesn't get exposed to the lovely Northeast elements.

But I am happy I have a date to look forward to :)

I'm a little disappointed that I won't get to play with the thing next Tuesday as a consolation for there being no Lost episode, but at least now I don't have to "wonder" when it will come out.

Looks like I'll just have to get mine on 5/2 when I get back from vacation. This validates why I had it sent to work for them to lock up until I get back. If it was earlier in the trip, I'd consider going to Best Buy to get one and just return the one I have being shipped. I'd have no problem camping out on my trip if it was overnight, rather than having to wait in line during the day to have a chance at getting one.

I don't know. Mine shipping status still says Late April, which makes me believe there is still hope in receiving it this week. If the date was so concrete for all on April 30th - even those of us who pre-ordered in March, you'd think they would update the status to that date. But they have not. So that's enough for my optimistic self to have hope

I'm not trying to quash your hopes, but why would you find the fact that not all the orders have ticked over to the delivery date yet to be more concrete that Apple's official press release?

CUPERTINO, California—April 20, 2010—Apple® today announced that the Wi-Fi + 3G models of its magical iPad™ will be delivered to US customers who’ve pre-ordered on Friday, April 30, and will be available in Apple retail stores the same day starting at 5:00 p.m.

Street date is street date, I think.

You may quash my hopes as I was reaching in a sense. We likely will not see them until april 30th.

That said, the street date is the date the stores will see them. It doesn't completely negate customers ordering from the site receiving them.

But, I'm not expecting mine before the 30th. Just looking for any hope I can find :D

+1, street date makes it o-fishy-al. There's nothing left to question.
