I typed in a few searchs but wasnt sure how to sum up my question in a few words :) I havent seen this answered in any preview ive read.

UK resident thinking about buying an ipad at the weekend, my question is... can the 3G version connect to the entire phone network? Edge / 2G like the iphone can... or does it only work on the 3G part of the signal?

The reason I ask is 3G isnt massively widespread in the UK, expect the major towns. Between work and home I can only get 3G at work. If I could connect to the rest of the network, the slower bits :) that would be very useful and might sway me.

Id rather be on a slower signal browsing slowly than not at all.

I appologise if this has been discussed, I think ive done a pretty thorough read through of the first 3/4 pages.

Works just like a phone - it falls back to EDGE then GPRS depending on signal strength/coverage.
