Hello everyone, long time since I've posted but read the forums everyday:

Can't wait to get my ipad for university (buying it after my exams finish on the 28th June) but I do have a question which may have an effect on the model I buy.

Will the 3G version, when not in an actual 3G area stil pick up the much slower 'blue-dot-in-iPhone-grey-toolbar' and EDGE networks or is it kept exclusive to the high speed 3G? I would be much happier if it even picked up these slower networks as I live in an area (of Wales) which is somewhat deprived when it comes to 3G.

As a sidenote, do forum users think ipad supplies will be steady by the date I want to buy mine (28th June) or should I panic-preorder?

Many thanks to anyone who takes the time to respond to my post..

Mikey

I think it should do that as you can see in the specifications of the Ipad it mentions edge network
