They quoted him out of context to make a story where there wasn't one. Full quote:

In another email, Jobs actually apologized to an international user about the delay for shipping both the WiFi and 3G versions of the tablet device.: “Both models will be released at the end of May. Sorry for the delay,” Jobs reportedly replied

Meaning, the INTERNATIONAL release of the 3G and Wifi models. That's what the 'both models' refers to, and none of the story has anything to do with US 3G launch.

For people who aren't going to believe me, follow the links back to the source from the story posted above, and read very carefully. If you're not on the Cult of Mac site, you're not at the source.

An eagle-eyed Macrumors member discovered the shipping type changed from standard to priority on a 3G order. That caused a lot of us to look and discover the same thing.

It would appear that things are potentially winding up for a release.

I am thinking that Jobs will get the 3G unit delivered by the end of the month. I do not think he has near the quaint required to fill everyone's order but most. He will then work on expanding production for the non-USA deliveries.

Well, if its delayed - i'm demanding a replacement computer instead of having to give mine up for 10 days for an attempt at a repair. I can't be without a mobile computing device for that long right now.....

I'm hoping to see a charge hit this weekend.....

"Both Models" referred to the international release. He also said that Apple was delaying the International release so that they could meet US consumer demand.

Kinda selfish....don't you think? :(

Some people in other countries are using Apple's international launch delay as open season for rudeness to U.S. posters. It's an interesting leap, but I guess it's also the predictable one.

Humanity makes me sad.
