3G iPad in Canada, no use importing one now, wait until Rogers official release ...

I'm in Canada and have a 64gb wifi iPad ... it will be much more useful to me when I can get the 3G version...

But, there doesn't seem much point when Rogers isn't offering data plans yet, plus it takes a mini sim card so putting in any sim with a data plan attached won't work.

Any other options? I'm wondering if it's worthwhile to get an unlimited North America data from a Carrier in the States ... would likely be much better priced that our limited data plans in Canada are.

You're making my head spin. Jailbreak your iPhone, download mywi and use your iPhone data connection on your iPad. Keep the wifi iPad. Don't give rogers any more $$$ than you have to.

Isn't battery drain a big issue when tethering the jailbroken iPhone to the iPad?

rather than filling the pockets of rogers, use your iphone and its data plan with the "tethering" capabilities of mywi....of course that depends if you participate in prisonbreak activities.

rogers will offer a plan for the ipad, they have no issues riding the profit coattails of apple. if the 4th gen iphone prototype is correct with respect to the micro-sim, rogers will be giving them out for free with the iphone/ipad...but then again, it's rogers, i'm sure there will be a hidden fee or something stupid like $10.

Yes it will drain your iphone battery faster, but I always have my iPhone plugged in to power when I'm using mywi (at work) so its not a big deal for me. But yes it does chew through your battery. But isn't that worth saving $130 on hardware and around $50 per month (which is the initial rumors of what rogers will charge for a data only ipad service).
