3G iphone can't charge via USB port

It is weird that my iphone can't be charged via the USB port. I had to plug the USB cable into the AC charger to charge the phone. Anyone experience the same problem?

i could charge my old iphone with the new usb cable from a USB port, but not the new one.

Mine charges just fine using a USB port.

Does it charge via the USB port on the computer?

If it does, then it may be the brick or the iPhone won't charge without also getting USB data. Otherwise you may be SOL. Get it replaced.

mine charges, but it's far slower than with the ac adapter
