Since the warranty doesn't cover water incidentals, what can I do? I went to a repair shop (sketchy...) and the representative told me I had to get a new memboard (sp?). He also said the memboard (sp?) is not currently available because the iPhone is still new. Since he can't get the memboard working, he couldn't test the LCD screen or battery to see if these components are okay.

Oh, some parts of the memboard is white??? What is this??

Is there an excellent repair shop around Burlington/Hamilton/Toronto that you recommend to get my 3G iPhone fixed?

Do you think it's worth fixing the phone? If not, is there anyway to get out of a contract with Rogers? I don't want my phone bills to stack up... Also, is there away for Rogers or Future Shop to give replace this phone with a new phone?

I also talked to a Telus representative at some shop and he said it's impossible to fix a iPhone, but I still have hopes!

By the way, right now, my phone is currently with "Cell Saver".

dude I dont think there is ANY fixing that phone.

In japan they have special options for water damaged phone form the carrier. I dont think youll be getting another iPhone unless you wana pay allooooot

wait and hear from other members though.

I've got osmething which you can do.

Brake the screen on the phone, take it back to apple and see what happens.

They should replace it?

If you mean physically break the screen, as in crack it, why would Apple replace it? That is user caused damage.

Furthermore, although I feel bad for the OP, why do you think he should have to do anything other than pay for a replacement? This is not Apple's or Roger's fault that his phone got water damaged. How about trying to encourage people to do the honest and ethical thing instead of lying and trying to cheat a company?

To the original OP, another forum member had his iPhone 3G stolen. I don't remember the exact details, you can do a search as it was posted in the regular iPhone forum yesterday. The short version is that he had to pay $400 to Rogers to cancel his contract and then was able to get a new iPhone for $299 to replace the stolen one. Total cost $699 plus taxes. Not sure I understand the whole having to cancel the contract thing but there ya go.

I know that isn't the cheapest solution but it will probably be cheaper than paying some questionable repair shop to replace one part at a time trying to determine what is broken.
