A story on AppleInsider says that a new version of the iPhone in November may have 3G data. Also says something about Jobs saying the cellular service on the current iPhone isn't very good.

So who's waiting in line to get the iPhone 2G (with 3G!) in November? :)

They're reporting that some analyst said that. The analyst works for the same company that made headlines earlier by saying oil will be $100 a barrel by the end of next year.

I will be so mad, I hope they at least don't come out until 2008.

This also could be the smaller version of the iphone.

I would say that this guy is know for being ... uhh ... "off" on some of his predictions?

http://www.informationweek.com/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=196602708
"With Apple Computer(AAPL)'s annual MacWorld Expo in San Francisco just a month away, the rumors are focusing on what Steve Jobs will announce in his keynote address. It's not likely to be Apple's much-anticipated iPhone, according to CIBC World Markets analyst Ittai Kidron, who speculates the phone won't be announced until after the Jan. 9-12 [2007] event in San Francisco."

(however, in fairness, he did predict that the actual final launch would be 1Q or 2Q 2007)

IMO he got the ROKR all wrong, and was surprisingly a bit softer on it than the iPhone:

http://money.cnn.com/2005/10/24/technology/rokr/index.htm
"Ittai Kidron, an analyst at CIBC World Markets, said the 100-song limitation may not be as much of a setback as ROKR's critics have made it out to be, pointing out that the product will likely appeal to people who don't already have an iPod.

Ittai added that the ROKR is Motorola's first generation music phone, and that, like other new technologies, it may take awhile to gain traction."

And, of course, this gem where he admits to being flat-out-wrong about earlier estimations on RIM's future valuations -- this was just a couple weeks ago:

http://www.smartmoney.com/news/ON/index.cfm?story=ON-20070629-000864-1555
"Ittai Kidron of CIBC World Markets admitted in a note to clients Friday that he was wrong earlier when he predicted that Wall Street's estimates for the company were too aggressive."

Yes they are releasing a new version of the iPhone 5 months after the first release.

.....

when will these stupid threads stop?
Probably not until there is a 3G iPhone, I guess.
No 3G iPhone will exist until either (A) higher capacity batteries are available or (B) 3G chips become more energy efficient.

Until I see an announcement of either of those then these 3G threads are garbage and should be wastelanded.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the 3G iphone is coming in November to coincide with the return of Christ. He wants to prepare early for his birthday celebration.

From Jobs mouth to your ear.

Seriously...

A 3G iPhone will exist whenever Apple wants to enter the European market. It will use the chips and batteries that are available at the time of its design.

At this point it is much easier to make a 3G phone for the European market than the U.S. market.

I can see a 3G iPhone in Europe before the U.S. due to the Qualcomm chip ban.

I use a 3G handset that is feature packed and uses most the features the iPhone has minus the UI. I do not believe that 3g chips consume that much more power than GSM or likewise.

I think we will see a 3G iPhone. LG released that POS Prada phone without 3G and it killed it. Especially in the European marketplace... 3G is a must have.

What would really tick me off is if they supposedly put 3G in this iPhone Nano thats due out Q4 2007.

I think thats what this 'analyst' is referring to.

Can you imagine. An iPhone Nano with 3G but no real browser capabilities, and yet we have a 'real' iPhone v1 with plain old EDGE and great browser capabilities.

That would bite:mad:
