Hi guys,

I'm planning on buying a 3g iphone from AT&T and then giving to someone in Taiwan as a gift. Could someone provide info on which sim unlock options have been verified to work that allow the iphone 3g to function in Taiwan?

Thank you!

hey

hey, im doin the same thing. actually, i already bought the iphone and its updated to a 3.1 firmware, does that mean that i won't be able to unlock it for taiwan? what did you end up doing?

I can confirm that Taiwan does indeed sell unlocked iPhones. My wife into a random cell phone store, said she wanted an iPhone and had it three hours later. My service provider is not the same company that initially sold the iPhone (Chunghua Telecom) and my iPhone works perfectly with no unlocking. It was still in the sealed package when I got it.
