So the general impression with Best Buy so far is that if you're there by 5pm you have a decent shot, but by 5:10pm or later it's likely sold out?

Sounds as if most Best Buys only received 5 units, all 64GB 3Gs from what I can gather

Chicago south loop Best Buy had 8 units, all 64s. I'm now at Mich Ave
Apple store. Big line -- maybe 150 people -- but they have the stock, they say...

Kinda of annoyed. The Best Buy in Altamonte Springs FLorida gave away vouchers (they said it was managers decision) so they all sold out by 10am. People just returned at 5pm to pick it up.

I walked out with my 32gb five minutes ago. Smooth transaction. I got an InCase case for $40. They were sold out of Apple cases.

Just got back from my Best Buy in Mechanicsburg, PA... got there at 3:30 and I'm glad I didn't get there any later...

They ended up giving out vouchers at around 4:30 and they only had 15 units in stock... no 16 GBs, 5 32 GBs and 10 64 GBs... I was number 11... whew... just made it, there were three people waiting around that didn't get it and looked pissed...

I see your frustration, but it seems like a fair system to me. If they hadn't handed out tickets you still wouldn't have had the iPad, but the people who got the iPad would have been standing in line since 10 am.

I don't have any issues with vouchers. My only issue is I called yesterday and was told first come first serve at 5pm. Never was told about first come first serve
at 10am. They said manager was concerned about lines and security and that's why they went with the early vouchers.

No big deal. I went to the Apple store 2 miles down the street to pick up a 32GB ipad 3g. That store ran out of te 16gb model.

Sucks I have $200 worth of Best Buy gift cards/certificated I wanted to used.

Any Canadians at Syracuse or Buffalo stores want to pickup an extra for me while you're there? Will pay your gas! Can pick up in Hamilton/Toronto or Kingston.

(I know...happy dreaming :))

In line at SF Stockton St store. Apple employee told me the line started to form just passed 1:30. It's now reaching Crate & Barrel builing.

BB in Charlotte NC had 12 iPads and they sold them all at 5:00 PM. Actually line started to form close to the Apple desk at 4:00 PM with about 8 people in line.

Pentagon City Apple Store is out of 16 & 32 GB now. Will be sold out of 64GB soon. Wow. I did not expect that. From the lines it looks like they only rec'd 100 each of the 32 & 64 & even less of the 16GB.

What's everyone else's experience?

Am home and syncing the new iPad! Line looked like about 125 people at Tysons when I was leaving......out of the first six of us in line four of us were getting the 64 GB and the other two were getting the 16 GB and 32. GB.

Yes,the parade and clapping, plus the "receiving line" and high- fives as the first customers enter the store traditional.....a fun part of the whole Apple Launch Day experience!

I arrived at the Soho Applestore in Manhattan at 5:25 and there were about 70 people in line. They were out of 16GB iPads but had plenty of the 32 and 64GB size--as well as plenty of Apple cases. That was the easiest launch line I've been in ever. I was in and out with my 64Gb in 15 minutes. I'm very glad I cancelled my pre-order -- totally unnecessary.

Strangely enough, they were completely sold out of the wifi model--all three.

I think there's a Sunday ad this weekend advertising the iPad 3g so stores are stocking up. Assume they will get much more Saturday.

Wasn't sure if UPS or Fedex - whichever they use - deliver on Saturday.

I had to wait like 3 minutes behind 4 people. This was the worst experience ever.

Oh wait no, it rocked.
