No word on that yet but if you're not in the US I bet the 3G version is delayed as well.

I believe that meaning of the official release today was that they are opting to supply the US before the rest of the world.

The 3Gs should be here this month!

The actual quote is, "Although we have delivered more than 500,000 iPads during its first week, demand is far higher than we predicted and will likely continue to exceed our supply over the next several weeks as more people see and touch an iPad™. We have also taken a large number of pre-orders for iPad 3G models for delivery by the end of April." (emphasis added)

So, I take that to mean that the US is still on track to get the 3G models by the end of this month. I hope so! I keep checking my shipping status in the hopes that I'll see a FedEx tracking number. I've already received the docking keyboard and my iPad case has already shipped, too (although it looks like it is still sitting in Hong Kong).

Keep your fingers crossed. This is worse than being a kid waiting for Christmas.

although the statement above is somewhat reassuring, I don't really feel like it necessarily says that they won't be delayed. Jobs just says, that they have taken a number of pre-orders for the 3G model that they have announced will be shipped at the end of April. Though, now that I'm seeing how this is all playing out I'm kind of seeing Apples plan here. They realistically had no way of anticipating how these would sell, even based upon pre-sales. but once people got their hands on them, they proved to be extremely popular. At this point I'm sure Apple had purposely kept their production numbers low in case things flopped. The iPad has not flopped and whether we care to admit it our not, the supply limitations are driving demand up even more.

Bottom line, I hope Apple still delivers by the end of April. I feel like Jobs statement was very non-committal, he could have thrown half a sentence in at the end to reassure us, even saying that they are working diligently to meet the end of April, US 3G release. Yet, he just restated what we all already know, yes apple has taken a number of pre-orders for the iPad 3G, now when do I get it?
