So I have some money to spend from Christmas and I have just switched to AT&T. My other service was just cancelled and I need a phone now. 3G or 3GS? Also are refurbished products still nice? Thanks

get the newest you will be stuck with it for two years yes refurbs are fine.

Is there a difference between getting refurbished iPhones from Apple and refurbished iPhones from AT&T?

Get the apple refurb. It is basically rebuilt from the ground up. Apple will replace the screen and casing if damaged and works better than most new ones. I believe ATT just takes it, sells it, and says screw you if your unhappy

Go with a 3GS man, the 3G is total CRAP with 3.0. It actually makes me wonder what people that buy 3G's now think about it since it really is that bad. Then agin since they never had it before they probably think its the best lol.

But yea, go with the refurb. I bought mine new and got a new one with apple care after a month and feel like i wasted a whole lot of money buying it new just to get what probably was a refurb and was better than my new.

The question you should be asking is not "3g or 3gs?" it should be "3gs or the next iPhone?" There will be a brand new one coming out in about 6 months. I would wait personally. If you have to have one _right now_, then get the 3gs.

Always buy from Apple opposed to AT&T if you have the means. Apple's customer service is far superior to any other company's on the whole world.

This is my dilemma. I don't currently have an iPhone. I will be paying fullprice (buying it outright) so I'm debating whether I should just wait until June/July or buy now. I'm not one to line up or brave the crowds for the newest iPhone, so chances are I wouldn't end up getting the new iPhone until late summer/fall since places will probably start selling out pretty quickly.

Decisions, decisions. :p

The lines for the 3gs were not bad in my city. I doubt they will be bad for the 4th gen. Keep in mind, you could always order one online or by phone.

3.0? I see your problem, I would strongly recommend you upgrade to 3.12

It brought back the speed that was in the 2.x releases on the 3G.

Anyway my advice to the OP... Hold on for 6 months and get the new iPhone, or a 3GS after the new iPhone has been released as that will likely move down to occupy the current price point of the 3G.

How about buying used from Craigslist? That way you stay out of contract and eligible for subsidized pricing next summer, but get an iPhone now. 3g's are widely available and not that expensive, and you should be able to flip it again next summer for 1/2 or more of what you pay now.

When i said 3.0 i meant anything with 3 in the beginning. Right now im on 3.1.2 and it sucks just as bad as 3.0 if not worse actually.

And idk why people are telling him to wait. He didnt mentioned the word "now" for no reason. Now is not 6 a half a year from now..................
