3G Screen went completely white

Hi- My Iphone 3G froze on contacts and then the screen went completely white.

The phone still works, I accidentally called someone and answered a call while I was messing with it but the home screen won't come back.

I just restored the phone and it downloaded updated software but now its stuck on the black screen with the apple and my computer says its preparing Iphone software for update..but isn't actually updating?

Any suggestions as to what to do now?

post some pics i can help you try this disconnect hold down sleep/wake button then when it shuts down hold the sleep/wake and home button until it turns on then keep holding the home button but let go of the sleep/wake button hope this helps...

I actually ended up being able to download updated software and restoring the phone- took about an hour and my phone went back to its original settings and I lost my downloads but at least I can see the screen!
