Hi,

I've read that "3G Unrestricted" is good to use for YouTube, Skype, etc...bc these apps are blocked by AT&T so they can't run on 3G. However, I run Skype, YouTube, etc... with no problems under 3G.

So is "3G Unrestricted" even necessary to install now??

Thank you,

olimits7

I think it is still necessary for the following things:

- downloading files larger than 10MB from itunes store and app store
- using slingplayer over 3G
- using fring or other VOIP apps over 3G

although AT&T recently announced that it is going to allow VOIP apps to function on their 3G network, so it may not be necessary for those apps for much longer...

I know it's pretty petty of me, but the main reason I bought 3gUnrestrictor was to have wifi-quality YouTube videos compared to the regular 3g blocky-ness. It obviously takes longer to download and play the videos, but it's worth it IMO.

yes its a vast improvement

It's not needed to use Orb or MLB At Bat but it improves the quality of video with both of those programs, also.

Yup. Without 3G Unrestrictor, YouTube over 3G is just plain fugly.
