I am in the process of receiving my iPad 3G in Australia - imported from the US 3G iPad launch.

I am interested to hear any stories of people who have swapped the AT&T SIM with another carrier and succeeded to get 3G services to work.

Care to share your story on how you went and how you configured it to work?

The iPad is unlocked but not yet to other carriers in the US at least and the iPad uses an AT&T microSIM.

The iPad is fully unlocked and should work with any carrier out of the box - based on what Apple have stated to date.

I am specifically interested in seeing how others have got it to work. It's not hard to create your own microsim using a normal sized SIM, so this thread is to determine whether someone has done this yet.
