Not sure if this question has been asked before. I know that the 3G version has a GPS chip. Would I be able to use the GPS functionality without activation on Rogers (I'm from Canada).

Should be fine, the GPS function should work. A-GPS, will use the cell towers around to give a rough location, but is not strictly required.

Yep. All you need is Navigon or some other s/w that includes built-in maps and you should be good to go.
