On the Apple support site, it states that a Macbook can only use up to 2gb ram. On the OWC site http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/MacBook/DDR2/Upgrade , they sell up to 3gb ram for Macbooks. Does anyone know if the Macbook would accept the 3gbs?
Your MacBook (C2D) will. In fact, you could use 2 X 2GB and get 3.3GB of usable RAM. if you use 1 X 1GB and 1 X 2GB you will get 3GB but will lose dual channel mode for the RAM. It doesn't really affect performance too much (dual channel, that is).
I'm looking to get more ram for my iMac. Either a 2gb chip or a 2x1gb depending on how much dual channel makes a difference? If I get the 2gb chip then I'll have 2.5gb total, if I get the 2x1gb then I'll have 2gb with dual channel. Which will provide the best performance?

So, if I added a 1gb memory stick to my macbook, that will have 1gb memory already in there, it wont effect it much?
also, can you even put in more than 1 memory stick at a time?(lol)
So, should I just spend the extra $175 and have it come with the 2gb memory? OR save $130 and do it myself,
