iPhone 3GS 6.1 - Need help unlocking

3GS 2009 Week 35 (xx935xxxxxx)
Baseband 05.16.08

I saw evasions new tool, and I thought I would be able to manage to upgrade and maintain my unlock. But when I upgraded, everything went to hell.

I need some guidance to get back on track. Do I need to change the baseband? I remember I downgraded it once. How would I upgrade it again?

It would be possible if I had the proper baseband.

Had same exact problem. Heres what I did.

1. Restore back to 6.1
2. Download Redsn0w and iOS 6.0 for your device
3. In redsnow, go to extras > select IPSW and find your 6.0 file
4. go back and jailbreak

Your phone should now be JB on 6.1
 
There's no unlock compatible with 6.1 yet and even if you downgrade there is no option yet to save your old baseband and update to a custom 6.1
If your iphone is locked to AT&T you can unlock it officially for $2-3 dollars with no hacks.

But will I be able to have an unlocked phone and use any carrier of my choice?

I'm from Canada, eh? So I am locked to Rogers.

Can I go back to iOS 5.1.1? or 6.0.1?

That doesnt make any sense.
He's already on 6.1 JB
redsnow currently doesnt JB 6.1 and the rest you posted are pointless.
He's asking for help to unlock his 3GS with ultrasnow.

Oh Im sorry friend.
If you were locked to AT&T it would have been easier and cheaper. I think canadian carriers unlocks are pretty expensive to purchase.
Open up tinyumbrella and see what shsh blobs you have available.
Request shsh blobs from cydia to see what's there and those version listed there are the ones you can downgrade to.
Without shsh blobs you can never downgrade to any version besides the latest one.

Request shsh blobs from cydia to see what's there and those version listed there are the ones you can downgrade to.
Without shsh blobs you can never downgrade to any version besides the latest one.

I downloaded tinyumbrella, but I don't know how to use this program.

I looked at a video quickly, there is nothing listed in tinyumbrella, therefore I have no shsh blobs saved?

Ill go into more detail on this.

I ave a friend that wanted to upgrade her 3GS to 6.1. She was on iOS3 and was jailbroken/unlocked to work on a different carrier. When I upgraded her phone, the JB/unlock was lost so I had to look for some solutions for this.

The problem with the new updated phone was that it was ATT locked and thus I couldn't get plast the initial Activation setup on the iPhone. When i had it connected to iTunes it just said that the SIM chip wasn't compatible.

So I scoured the internet for solutions to activate and unlock a 3GS on 6.1. I found a solution that worked with redsn0w.

First, I restored to 6.1. Then I opened redsn0w and selected the iOS 6.0 (seeing as this version of redsn0w doesn't work with 6.1 yet, I used 6.0 and still works). Then I went back and did a jailbreak on the phone. After several minutes it was done. I turned on the phoned and up came the New iPhone Setup screen. I glided through that and up came the homescreen. After all this I put in the SIM chip and voila it works.

Plug in your iphone.
open tinyumbrella, go to advanced, check the box request from cydia.
Go back to general and Then click save shsh.
Give it a few minutes and see what shsh blobs you have on cydia for that device.
It will list them on that window.
