I know it can't receive calls or SMS, but I'm sure it has an associated phone number with the data plan. I need to figure out what it is so I can add it to my MicroCell.

Why? Not because I'll use 3G over Wifi while at home, but for battery life. If it wasn't on the microcell, it'd hunt for service and kill the battery super fast, just like it did on my iPhone before I got the Microcell. By at least having it connected to the Microcell, at least that wont happen. I'll continue to use Wifi for data at home.

I also know I could just turn off cellular, but I was hoping for a more seamless solution so I wouldn't forget to turn the 3G back on when leaving the house.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know!

Thx

After you sign up, AT&T will send a confirmation email with the ipads number. It took almost six hours for me to get the email. Don't know how else to get the number without signing up.

Fantastic. Thank you! I did sign up but have not received the email yet. You're in Goodyear, AZ? Same here, Neighbor!

+1
same here... But I did get it and it contained the phone number.

Without opening another thread, just to inform anyone who was thinking of trying...

Texting your iPad 3G's AT&T phone number does nothing on the iPad 3G. You do not get a rejection or response on the cell number you're texting from.

Would have been nice if it would accept SMS/MMS. After all the iPad 3G is basically a supersized iPhone without the native phone capability. Perhaps in a future update?
