Hi,
I have a 3GS that was unlocked and jailbroken.( pre legal )
Not sure what was used to get it that done but it is currently
05.13.04 / 6.1
I want to restore to factory....no jailbreak.
The phone has been approved for unlocking thru AT&T so if I restore to factory I should be ok with the tmobile service I have now.
Any good suggestions ?

No, 06.15.00 is the ipad baseband.
Go to settings/general/about and post your modem firmware version.

It shows the 05.13.04 and 6.1 for the version.....
You know, maybe that won't matter......
Here is a new question, can I restore a old backup from a 2g on to my 3GS ?
If I can will I lose the jailbreak and unlock? And can I go back to my 3GS backup without faults.

05.13.94 is the BB for iOS4.01/4.02

A restore in inn iTunes should bring you up to 6.13 and then AT&T can unlock.

Yes you're ok then. Just plug it to iTunes and hit restore.

Yes you can restore an old backup to it. The unlock is official so you will never lose it no after what. The jb will be gone as soon as you restore to stock iOS.
And yes you can restore to a 3GS backup or any backup you have available on your computer.

I just tried to restore the old 2g backup onto the still jailbroken 3GS and after an hour it failed to restore. Luckily the 3GS came back 100% the way it was.

So, restore the 3GS to the original ( 4.something iOS ) then do a backup for safety . Then restore old 2gbackup to the 3GS .......is that right?
Sorry for being lame.....I'm an old guy!

You can - but restoring from one major FW version to another can cause problem, dorm one device another is likely to cause problems

I wouldn't recommend it.

You can't downgrade your FW.

It is far better to set up as a new device, why do you want to restore a backup from an old phone?

2g has cracked screen, I can only turn on and barely swipe off.
I was told I could get more info from phone directly.

So , I have to let iTunes go to the newest version that the phone can handle?

Probably his contacts and whatnot? Considering the 2G iPhone has no cloud support.

Contacts etc can be synced to a computer, photos can be copied to a computer. There is very little that you would not be far better off copying off the old phone and back to the new.
