3GS unlock and JB

I have a 2G . Some of you may know that since ive been posting here a while but i have a friend who has a 3GS and he wants to JB it and i havent been paying attention to the 3GS threads.

Is there a unlock for it yet? And is the JB from the Dev Team or the other guy? and is it working fine if from the other guy?

I tried to do a search and it brings up all kinds of crap to sift through. Can someone kindly point me to the JB stuff i need for a 3GS.

I just want to know if this JB download is legit and works for a 3GS because this guy has never done this before and i dont want to give him bad info. I tried to tell him to go here but he wants me to show him how to do it but im not gonna do it if the JB fpor the 3GS has a ton of bugs.

Just use purplera1n to jailbreak it, and then use cydia to download ultrasn0w to unlock it. It's simple.

purplera1n doesn't work on the 3gs ... does it? ... if he's running 3.1

His 3GS is running 3.0 . He asked me earlier today about an update and i told him it wasnt really anything but a fix for the SMS virus. I just dont want to tell him to use Purplra1n if it has been buggy.

I havent heard if the Dev Team has released theirs yet is all . I thought they were waiting for 3.1 to come out.

Purplera1n was designed for the 3GS it is incompatible with 3.0.1 but it works great and is really simple with 3.0.
