Long story short, I obtained someone else's used 3G earlier this year. It's a touch worn, but works fine. I ended up liking it much more than I ever thought I would.
The phone replaced another AT&T phone, so they told me I am out of contract and eligible to upgrade later this month.
I was killing time out of town and made the mistake of testing my 3G against a 3GS at the store. The difference was night and day. The boot time, app time, responsiveness of the browser was significantly better.
Now every time I look at the 3G or wait for an app to load, I think about the shiny 3Gs that was a lot faster. Plus it has a lot more space (I always run up against the 8GB.) So now I'm thinking of upgrading.
It seems like the pros are a faster handset for the same amount of would have spent on a 3G if I hadn't gotten this one. The cons are that I'm locked into a new contract and will miss out upgrade pricing if a new version comes out next summer.
What are the thoughts out there?
