I would take it to the Apple store, but as in the title, it's been jailbroken and I can't restore with iTunes because my computer isn't recognizing the phone.

I've tried two different USB cables, and with the wall jack and directly into my computer.

Am I screwed? I still have ~10% battery left so if there's anything I can do quickly to mask the hacking I'll try it.

Thanks in advance...

Thanks for your reply...however the computer doesn't recognize the phone as being connected at all..

I'm pretty sure there's something physically wrong with the USB/dock connector on the phone.

I've never been to the Apple store/genius bars for servicing...is it possible that they might just replace the phone on the spot without looking into the software configuration. Or would they definitely send it to Apple? And similarly, is it better for me to go with the phone still working, or should I just let the battery die completely?

gah whatever..I would let the phone die..and pray to God that a soft reset or a forced turn on..won't turn the phone on at all.

That way they will replace it cause they won't be able to see if its jailbroken or not

Thanks for the responses guys...

Maybe I'm missing something...but to restore via DFU mode don't you need some sort of connection to your computer?

Is there any way to have this moved back to the 'help' forum? It being jailbroken/unlocked is now irrelevant as the phone has now died
