Hi guys and gals. I’ve used every version of the 12.9 pro with Apple Pencil and was thrilled with the form and pencil charging upgrades with the latest update. However, as an illustrator, upon using the new model with the Pencil, I noticed weird resistance in certain areas on the screen. This was so severe as to completely change the direction of the pencil. I switched to the old pencil to check if it was my new one but the issue was definitely the screen.
When I ran my nail lightly over the affected areas they seemed rough and even gave the impression the the glass was ridged, going up and down at th edge of the screen. I cleaned the screen with Whoosh! And the issue went away. However, after about 10 minutes the problem was back, and in new areas.
I eventually got the device to a store where the genius said it was likely a problem with the coating and arranged a replacement which I collected a week later.
I purchased a folio for this new model however it exhibits the same effect. It seems that when you rub the areas with you finger it goes away, only to return 5-10 mins later.
I’ve seen others online complain of this plus someone in the art community said their friend went through 4 replacements. How is this not a huge issue and more publicised? It renders the iPad useless for detail drawing.
Has anyone got any info about this? Advice? Anything?
