Hello all
I am new to the forum and I am after some much needed assistance.
I am trying to convert a 3rd gen iPod with a cf card adaptor. This is a replacement for a dead hard drive. I have done lots of research before trying this so I was confident it should work however I don’t have much luck.
I have done the hardware part and I am confident it is correct. I can format the new cf card and my Mac recognises it and the correct info.
However I need to do the iPod restore in iTunes but this is where I get stuck.
It doesn’t matter what I try and do the Mac will not recognise the iPod when plugged in with just fire wire.
With just usb, I tunes will recognise the iPod but the restore won’t work as it requires the fire wire to work.
I have tried everything I can think of even tried a Y cable with fire wire and usb in one. Nothing.
I was able to successfully restore a working 3rd gen iPod I have so I know everything works.
If anyone has any ideas or can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. I realise it is very old tech but this is driving me crazy.
Many thanks.
Andy
