Curious question- we all know the iPhone 11's smart HDR and better processing can take much sharper, better exposed pictures than any other phone.

For those using a slightly older phone such as an 8Plus or an X, is there a 3rd party camera app that can do its own version of smart HDR and deep pixel processing within the app as the iPhone 11 does, producing similar quality images on those older devices? Or are you stuck without any options for better looking pictures on one of those older phones?

With the older devices if you throw your pictures into either Snapseed or Lightroom, you should be able to get a lot out. Then there are some hardware constraints of course and the magic Apple is doing while taking pictures but if you understand photography then apps like Pro Cam would help a lot.

So essentially if I were to use Halide to take my pictures on an 8Plus, I should for the most part be able to get similar quality images to what I'd get out of the stock camera app on an iPhone 11? Especially if I'm going to do a bit of post processing on them in either Snapseed or in Photoshop on my Mac?
I'm not so interested in things like Night Mode, but just for regular images in normal daylight, wanting to be sure to have the good HDR at the time the image is taken, and of course the best possible sharpness right out of the camera.

I’ve never used halide personally but have heard good things about it. I’d say your results will be good enough if you know what you’re doing.

Regardless of App used, it won’t be as good in identical situations with the same shot.

You’ll get good photos with Halide or editing on Snapseed but really, the older phones are a fair bit behind the latest iPhone cameras now.
