I don't want to fork out $850 bucks for 4 gigs of Apple RAM on my iMac so I am looking into some 3rd party RAM. My question is about Apple Care warranty...does it void it? If so and something happened to my iMac that required the warranty to be used...can't I just put back the Apple RAM and send it in? Do they have any way of telling?

The RAM is user upgradeable. You will not void the warranty. Although if it is found that the third part RAM is the cause of an issue THAT will not be covered.
