Recently purchased a Mediasonic pcie 3.0 Type A usb card, from Newegg. Newegg claims the card will work in OS X 10.8 or higher with native drivers. It doesn't. I have since discovered that this is Newegg's claim, nowhere on Mediasonic's site or even on the box, does it say this card HP1-U34F, is compatible with OS X.
However, did some reading and some say all these cards run NEC chipsets. I can't seem to find out if this is true of this card or not. What has me curious and annoyed is that I used TonyMac's mutlibeast for El Capitan to install 3rd party drivers. After that install completed 2 of 3 external drives showed up. I tried to reboot the system to see if I could get the 3rd drive to mount. After reboot none were visible. Someone in another thread indicated that their system would not show anything under USB but did show the drives under Storage. I now have the opposite situation in About this Mac the USB field not only shows the card, it identifies, correctly, all 3 external drives. So, I'm confused as to why the system log identifies them but neither disk utility or Finder will.
