Does anyone one have a 3rd party warranty?

I know a couple of people who have warranty with Square Trade. I looked into it and the warranty seems pretty good. For 2 years of coverage the cost is $120 pre-paid.

I bought my iPhone refreshed from Best Buys. I found out that it's from October. The salesperson at Best Buys strongly suggested a refreshed one because the Geek Squad checks them out and fixes what needs to be fixed, etc.

geek squad is the best, however its 12 dollars a month i believe but what they do is that if you have any issues with your phone they send it out and the second they make the order to send it out they will send a refurbished one back to the store for you to pick up within 5 days. No need to wait 5 weeks like everyware else.

Horrible self-promotion and how is that the best? $144 a year and you still have to wait 5 days and drive back to the store to pick up a refurb phone? Most issues with the iPhone is covered by Apple and it's free. Why pay an additional $144/year without any real benefit?

On a sidenote, State Farm covers many things under personal article insurance and cost far lower than most of the other providers.

it covers accidental damage..... im pretty sure apple won't do that.

im pretty sure an iphone cost 600 bucks without a contract... so more like %20 (don't laugh at my math it could be way off)
Let's break this down a bit.

-Crack on the casing - covers by Apple - Free
-Water damage - replaceable by Apple at $199. - $55 more than BB coverage.
-Shattered Glass - sell on for ebay at $300-$350. - $150 - $200 more than BB coverage, but you can get a brand new phone.

Does Best Buy cover loss of phone?

Did I miss anything? Best Buy's warranty is money down the toilet unless something happens to your phone, and it's a very costly insurance option. Without such insurance, if something does happen to your phone, worst case scenario as I have laid out above is about $200 more out of pocket than BB insurance.

So is it worth it if you're not simply a complete klutz? NO!

I guess it depends on who you are.. I have gone through three. I snowboard with it and use it for alot of video. One cracked screen. one headphone jack got tweaked and another water damage... also though for some reason i don't get billed 15 a month and just had to pay once so i got lucky.

In my job I do somewhat hard labor this is why I just bought an Otterbox Defender for the best protection.
