So I just got my 3rd set of Airpods (2nd gen.) a few weeks ago. But ever since I got the third set. I have to constantly re-pair whichever Airpods I pick up to use at that time no matter the device or the set of airpods. The firmware/software on all 3 sets of Airpods is up to date, as well as up to date on the devices as far as Apple will allow.

But again many times since I got this 3rd set, whatever set I pick up has disappeared from that device and when I check the other devices it's entry is totally gone, or even sometimes all of the 3 sets of them.

What I am hoping for is no matter which airpods I pick up, they connect with nearest device I am on at the time. And yes I am ok going into the bluetooth settings as selecting them manually as needed. I just hate having to re-pair them all the time.

My configuration is as follows:
AirPod "Home"
AirPod "Work"
AirPod "Yard Use"

devices I use them on:
Ipad 11 pro 2018,
Iphone 14 PM
Ipad mini 4
Imac 27 2019 - Home
Imac 27 2015 - Work
MacBook Pro 2015

Has anyone been able to use 3 sets interchangebly on these devices. I had no problems when I had 2 sets only. But the additional set has caused this syncing issue across all of them.

Does apple only allow 2 sets per Apple Id? Or does anyone have any suggestions?
