I sold my last gen macbook pro 2.33 which was perfect except for some scratches and dings to buy the new SR 2.4. My 1st glossy had the yellow 1/3 problem, the 2nd had a problem with the return key falling off and twice freezing up to a black screen with text scrolling, AND It had the yelow problem as well but not as bad as the 1st.

Took the 2nd one back to the apple store today and they gave me the biggest hassle to exchange. They wanted me to come back to the genius bar and have them look it over to see if they could replicate the freeze ups and error screens. I told them that I had it for 2 days and its in my 14 day return/exchange policy so I wanted a new machine.

They did NOT want to do it but after some pressure from me, and a crowded store they did the exchange and told me it would be my last exchange. They told me if this 3rd one was defective in any way all they could do was fix it. I told them if it was defective I would be getting a full refund and told them to sell me a macbook pro that was NOT a lemon.

Well, got the 3rd one home and its still the samsung display (so were other two and I was hoping for the LG) but it has no yellowish hue at the bottom at all. Its crisp, bright and so far no problems. It closes nice and tight and looks perfect! No dead pixels either.

NOW Im happy but it took 3 tries! Seems like Apple has some lemons in this new round of MBP's.

Also, as a side note, there were 4 others in line behind me and to the side of me all returning MBP's. I told him that it looks like many others are having issues as well. One woman said her keyboard didnt work, one woman said her screen was defective and the other two I didnt ask.

Im just happy I got a good one now!

This is so sad seeing as people pay a lot of money on These Pro Products and it's like you have to be Lucky to have one without any defects.

For Shame Apple.

It is sad. I hope it's just from reading this forum that has made me believe there's a 50-50 chance of getting a good computer. I've bought many computers, and never have I been worried about getting something defected, and here I am feeling like I'm gambling $2500.

"Prosumer"

I don't know what your profession is, but be it in film or photography the Macbook Pro can easily be thrown on the floor to use as a mat for placing various EOS-1Ds and other pieces of kit.

At best the MacBook Pro is a "Prosumer" product.
