I have very good bandwidth at home and can usually download HD iTunes movies fairly quickly. When I try to download the 580 MB 4.0.1 update it fluctuates between 5-8 hours and takes over several minutes just to get to 1 MB.

Are the servers overloaded?
Is anyone else having this issue?

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 4 (32GB): Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A293 Safari/6531.22.7)

Took me about a minute.

There are several mirrors floating around. Mine was fast at only 15mins.

But this site has direct links to Apple hosted files: http://ios.e-lite.org/
Perhaps give it a try and see if your browser will download it any faster than iTunes.

Took me about 30 minutes to do the iphone. Ipad is taking forever. (It said 3hours for a while, now it's been saying 75 minutes for a while.

A few minutes, I think. I wasn't really watching and by the time I looked, my iPhone 4 was already restarting with the upgrade.
